Indie Film Sparks a Treasure Cult

Players are Addicted to GPS the Movie and Game

SEATTLE – August 18, 2006 – Thousands of players have been getting their daily fix of online puzzles and riddles since the July launch of GPS THE GAME. Many of those players use their weekend to go on one of the hundreds of GPS Treasure Hunts that are an optional part of playing the Game. It is the ultimate game for everyone – the outdoor adventurers, the homebody Internet surfers, the movie buffs, and the brainiacs.

The online action begins the addiction: There’s a list of puzzles and riddles to solve, and that list is growing everyday. There is also a Mystery featuring the characters that can be seen in the soon-to-be-released movie, GPS. As players advance in the game, they get to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes clips from the actual movie.

The treasure hunting further feeds the addiction: Prizes, Treasure Codes, Clues to the Mystery, and Character Trading Cards await players when they track down a treasure box. Some players go on dozens of GPS treasure hunts in their own state, only to plan road trips to other states for even more treasure hunting.

The online party is 24/7. Players chat on the Message Board, trade Character Cards in hope of compiling a complete set, and offer hints to each other for the trickiest puzzles. But they are careful not to give too much away, because there is a greater prize at stake. Top-scoring players will be entered into a drawing on October 31, 2006 for a chance to be the star of their own Mystery Adventure. Winners will be treated to airfare, accommodations, and their own thrilling, stunt-filled production where reality vanishes and the weekend becomes the ultimate adventure.

With over two months to go, and new players joining the ranks daily, it is not too late to take your own shot at the game. You never know – you just might get addicted too.
